CONTROL CENTER OPERATOR (RC#900330)
(Public Works – Water Utilities Division)
Salary Range: $22.894 - $30.907 per hour
Open until the needs of the City are met. First review date is Tuesday, September 2, 2014. This position may close at that time.
The Successful Candidate will be assigned to one of the following shifts:
Four week rotation
Bi-weekly shift hours are as follows: Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Two days worked every other week, Tuesday and Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. or Thursday and Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Every other weekend off).
Four week rotation
Week One: Monday through Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Week Two: Tuesday and Wednesday 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Week Three: Monday through Wednesday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Week Four: Thursday and Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (Every other weekend off).
Requires the equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in chemistry, biology, mathematics or a degree related to the core functions of this position.
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
Requires three years of increasingly responsible full-time experience performing complex plant operations duties in a water treatment facility, including six months experience with a computerized plant monitoring system comparable to SCADA.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a Grade 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification issued by the State of Arizona.
Possession of a Grade 1 Water Distribution System Operator Certification and Grade 1 Waste Water Collection System Operator Certification issued by the State of Arizona is preferred.
Successful completion of initial probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation. Based on position, referred applicants may be subject to additional testing which may include pre-employment polygraph, physical and drug screening.
