Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the incumbent performs technical review within the Development Engineering Section of the Department of Community Development. The incumbent reviews preliminary and final platting actions, engineered civil site plans for proposed commercial and residential projects, designs for stormwater, solid waste, and traffic impacts.
Development Engineering Technician 3 is the third level in a three-level Development Engineering Technician classification series. The Development Engineering Technician 3 classification is distinguished from the Development Engineering Technician 2 and Development Engineering Technician 1 by a greater degree of technical knowledge and expertise, responsibility for technical, administrative and policy-implementation elements of the department’s work program, and the comprehensive knowledge of functional and broad area of engineering and surveying.
Work assignments are broad in nature and scope and require independence in the selection of courses of action and resolution of complex or unique problems within the framework of permit applications and department policies and procedures. Work is reviewed for overall accuracy, effectiveness, timely completion, consistency and compliance with department goals, policies, procedures and codes via discussions, meetings, and employee evaluations conducted by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Required Education and Experience
Four years of experience in plat and/or plan review, construction or inspection of civil site improvements for site development activities; ANDBachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction/construction management or closely related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work.
