FLEET EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
(Public Works Department – Field Operations/Fleet Services)

Salary Range: $22.367 - $30.196 per hour
Work Schedule: Three Month Rotating Shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. OR 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Work location: 53 S. Priest Dr. Bld D is the main shop with rotations to the South facility at 6300 S. All America Way for 3-6 month assignments every 2-3 years.
Requires formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Requires one year of fulltime experience as a journey level automotive mechanic or completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
Possession of, or obtain within six months of hire, a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with the appropriate endorsements.Possession of, or obtain within six months of hire, an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, vehicle emission inspectors license for diesel and non-diesel vehicles.Possession of a complete set of mechanic hand tools.Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is preferred.
Successful completion of initial probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation. Based on position, referred applicants may be subject to additional testing which may include pre-employment polygraph, physical and drug screening.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation and/or compensatory time.
