The Sanitation Superintendent directs the daily and long-range operations and maintenance of the Sanitation Department, ensuring the timely and safe collection of the City’s residential, commercial and industrial sold waste and the recycling program. This department head position reports to the Public Works Director.
This position requires an established leader who can effectively carry out the following:
The Sanitation Department provides weekly refuse pickup service to Pocatello residents. Other services provided by the department include recycling and roll off containers for residential and commercial customers. The department consists of 41 full-time employees and has a budget of over $7 million.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of sanitation operations and regulatory requirements, at least five years of experience in progressively responsible supervisory roles in a relevant field, and a Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field.
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
An Idaho Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement is required. The position is subject to the City drug and alcohol testing program.
