VILLAGE OF NORTH AURORA SEEKS SENIOR WATER PLANT OPERATOR
The Village of North Aurora (population 16,760) is currently seeking candidates for the full-time position of Senior Water Plant Operator. North Aurora is a family friendly community, located along the scenic Fox River in Kane County with a staff of 55+ employees. This position reports to the Department Head position of Water Superintendent.
This is a highly responsible position which requires possession of a valid Class “B” water operator’s certificate as issued by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time period, as well as possession of a valid CDL license. Minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required with a minimum of three years experience in the field of potable water supply, sampling, testing, treatment plant operation and maintenance preferred.
Duties of this position include the maintenance and operation of the Village’s two hydrous manganese oxide (HMO) radium removal water treatment facilities, five deep wells and three water towers. The Village water supply is served only by deep well water.
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Water system’s production and treatment facilities as well as monitoring and making adjustments to the system’s operation. The position is also responsible for water samples, IEPA report preparation and compliance and preparation of reports. The position also assists if needed with distribution tasks such as meter read collections, repair of remote meter reading equipment and water meter installation and repair. Position is also required to assist with snowplowing, repair of water main breaks and be able to respond to emergencies on a 24 hour basis if needed.
The hourly rate for this bargaining unit position is $25.86 to $34.46.
