Maintenance Workers- Utilities Public Works Division

We have 7 positions that will support the Sewer/Drainage and Water department in the Public Works division. You will be performing skilled manual work such as: ● operate, maintain, clean, test, repair and adjust fire hydrants, pumps and related equipment ● repair or replace water or sanitary and storm services ● perform maintenance and routine repair of roads, streets, boulevards, pedestrian walkways, water or sanitary and storm sewer systems ● supervise other staff members assigned to perform the less complex aspects of the work ● operate relevant equipment. Along with grade 12 education and considerable previous work experience, you also have sound knowledge of: ● principles, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in roads, water or sewer systems infrastructure maintenance ● a variety of power and hand tools and equipment common to infrastructure maintenance work ● applicable safety standards and requirements ● mechanical aptitude ● an excellent ability to work independently or as part of a team ● proficient customer service ● proven communication and interpersonal skills ● valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement is required by end of probation/trial period. Individuals who are selected to participate in the recruitment process may also be required to obtain a RCMP security clearance.

The CUPE hourly rate of $28.19 is offered, plus a competitive benefits package.
