Position Summary:

The Market Director is a key team member in the development of business opportunities within the coresponding market sector. This includes identifying and pursuing opportunities in a variety of services. The Market Director participates in the development of strategic marketing plans and budgets, capture strategies, conferences, proposals and interviews. The Market Director must also have marketable practice skills and serve as project manager on key projects.

Position Responsibilities:
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Develop client relationships which position Harris to win new workThoroughly understand Harris’ culture, services (practice and market sectors), and strategic Road Map – Harris’ path to the futureDevelop a high profile corporate and personal presence in client settings, through event participation and individual client contactsEnhance the Harris Brand through thought leadership regarding new technologies, client issues, and industry challengesPresent papers at conferences and trade shows, and publication articlesBe an integral part of the entire Market Sector team and working crossfunctionally with other Market Leaders/DirectorsParticipate in creating Market Sector budgets, projections, opportunity targets, and other planning activities.Work with Practice Leaders/Directors to identify staffing needs (quantity and expertise) to support marketing effortsDevelop capture strategies and pursue A-list opportunitiesPrepare proposals and interviews, and coach Harris teamsTeach in the Harris AcademySet personal goals to win new work; secure client debriefs and learn from lossesStay current in personal areas of expertise, and actively seek opportunities to provide billable services in order to meet utilization targets

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of 10 years of relevant project management and/or business developement experienceCollege degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or business. An advanced degree (Masters) in any of these areas would be preferable.Professional engineering or architectural license. Preferred in the W/WW market but required in the Transportation marketAdditional certifications such as CCM or PMP a plusComputer skills appropriate for this position (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc)
