We are currently accepting applications to join our team as a Pavement/Asset Management Technician within our Municipal Services’ Department.
The Pavement/Asset Management Technician oversees and directs pavement construction projects for the pavement management program, ensuring that the projects are designed and constructed within budget and schedule. Coordinates and prepares project design, and reviews construction plans, specifications, and engineering calculations. The Technician is responsible for collecting data to determine the pavement condition index, overseeing the inspections of pavement construction projects, and for testing materials to determine compliance with the City of Lenexa’s standards and specifications. The Technician will also be responsible for ensuring contractor compliance with approved plans and specifications and collecting data on the pavement condition to develop forecasting/trending models and to develop a condition index. Other essential duties include working with the asset systems coordinator to help maintain data on the city’s assets, such as streets, lights, signs, sidewalks, storm infrastructures, hydrants, and telecommunication components.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Geography, Construction Science or related field and/or any equivalent training and experience which provides the minimum qualifications. Minimum of 3 years field inspection for civil infrastructure projects, and prior experience as State or local government Construction Inspector preferred. Must be knowledgeable of materials testing (soils, asphalt and concrete), governmental standards (federal, state and local) and be proficient at reading technical documents such as blueprints, maps, schematic drawings and technical specifications. Must have a working knowledge of Trimble handheld units, PathFinder Office software, and Esri ArcGIS and a basic understanding of relational database management system (RDBMS). Must possess extensive knowledge of Lucity and a have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
