NATURE OF WORK:
Performs administrative and professional work involving the quality control of pavement preservation and stormwater projects in the City's Streets and Stormwater Division. Analyzes and defines the scope and budget of projects with the Division Manager and City Engineer. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Work is performed under the general direction of the Division Manager. Performance is reviewed on a periodic basis through both formal and informal meetings and reports.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Works with the Purchasing Division in the preparation and development of IFB's, RFP's and/or RFQ's in the solicitation for services such as FDR, Milling and Resurfacing, Curb work, etc. Creates Fiscal Impact Statements. Writes Council Agenda items to obtain authorization to negotiate with contractors and consultants. Schedules and conducts meetings with contractors/consultants to negotiate terms and conditions of contracts. Reviews plans, specifications and construction cost estimates within the Streets and Stormwater division.
PROJECT MANAGER I: Bachelor degree in civil engineering, architecture, or construction management and four years experience in design, inspection, and project management, a significant portion of which must have included pavement inspection, rehabilitation, and preservation; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Track record in performing pavement condition assessments and managing a significant inventory of roadways using the Pavement Management System (PMS) model required. Four years field pavement surface evaluation experience including extensive knowledge of APWA's PAVER software highly desired. Florida driver license required.
PROJECT MANAGER II: Same as Project Manager I, above, except requires either a State Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or a State Architect license.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
