Under direction of the Development Engineering Manager, the Graduate Engineer or Civil Engineer has primary responsibility for managing tasks associated with land development including but not limited to: subdivision and commercial plan reviews, conducting meetings and interaction with consultants, engineers, and property owners, construction management, attending Development Review Committee meetings, planning and designing public improvements, project budgeting, cost estimates, obtaining easements, and answering general engineering questions and inquiries. Assignments are broad in scope and require the use of independent judgment, critical thinking, and initiative in making technical decisions of considerable difficulty.
Other duties include creating and maintaining records/files, handling correspondence, electronic, phone, and personal contact with the general public, businesses, and developers. Must be able to read and understand technical specifications, laws, and codes as they relate to development improvement projects. Must be able to provide exceptional customer service and perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Performs other related work as required.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, supplemented by previous experience and/or training that includes engineering drafting and design of municipal infrastructure; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months required OR Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months required..
