Brief Description of Duties: Serves as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator specializing in planning, developing, and implementing agency civil rights program initiatives to ensure that firms that have construction contracts with the District Government are in compliance with all ADA program requirements, and District and Federal laws and guidelines for effective implementation of affirmative action plans. Reviews plans, drawings and specifications at or before the 30% design phase and provides advice and assistance to agency program managers, engineers, procurement officials, union representatives, and contractors regarding ADA requirements, and coordinates the development of program policies and procedures.

Coordinates District Department of Transportation (DDOT) programs and responsibilities to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities. Reviews and implements DDOT policies and procedures relating to persons with disabilities, tracking DDOT¿s progress relating to its policies and procedures as well as local and federal laws relating to persons with disabilities, and provides consultative services to employing units and offices.

Ensures that the District Department of Transportation-related information is readily available on services, accommodations, policies, and demographics relating to persons with disabilities; and works with FHWA Washington, DC Division to make sure all ADA requirements are met. Collaborates and coordinates with the various DDOT administrations to make sure that all ADA requirements are met before construction starts, and responds to ADA complaints, questions, inquiries and concerns from stakeholders and residents.

Performs and/or leads a team by conducting on-site monitoring, reviews, inspections, and evaluations of agency internal and external ADA programs, including companies and corporations that have agency construction contracts, to ensure full compliance with ADA laws, etc. Analyzes and synthesizes voluminous and disparate data to support factual findings.
