Reporting to the Public Works Operations Manager, the Fleet Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the Fleet and maintenance shop operations. Duties will include coordinating contracted services for maintenance of all City vehicles and equipment, supervising maintenance mechanics and welder, determining specifications of new equipment, drafting tender documents and preparing reports on contract purchases and for City Council, maintaining inventory, and providing technical advice to supervisors and managers related to City fleet. The Fleet Manager will also prepare annual fleet maintenance budgets and will be responsible for tendering for hired equipment as it relates to municipal operations. The Fleet Manager will take charge of the day to day operations of the City Yards and Municipal Service Centre operation which includes buildings and yard space.

Qualifications include:

3 to 5 years of experience as a Fleet Manager and/or completion of a Fleet Administrator Course from a recognized Institute;Previous background in management/supervision of:Heavy Duty, Light/Automotive, and Small motor mechanics operationsWelding/Fabrication operationsFleet budgetsFleet inventoryStaffTraining experience as it relates to general equipment maintenance and operation would be an assetMinimum
of 3 years work experience in Municipal Engineering Department would be an assetExperience with Heavy Equipment operation and maintenance would be an assetCompletion of a Supervisory Training Course; andA valid Saskatchewan Driver’s License

The preferred candidate will take a strong “Business Management” approach in managing the overall operations in this department
