Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the incumbent plans, organizes, manages, and coordinates construction and maintenance activities and projects, using county forces, throughout the Kitsap County road system. Work involves oversight of routine maintenance and repair projects including road, bridge, and open drainage systems, review and approval of special permit applications for work in County right-of-way, development of equipment and materials requisitions, budget, and short and long-range plans for assigned operations, assuring compliance with legal requirements related to road maintenance and the Kitsap County Road Standards.

Required Education and Experience

  • Seven years of progressively responsible work experience in in project management of road construction and maintenance projects and programs, including two years in supervisory or management position; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work.
Preferred Education, Experience or Other Qualifications
  • Construction management or related coursework from a college, university or business school recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Previous experience working in a government entity managing Public Works road maintenance projects and programs.
Required Licenses, Certificates, Examinations/Tests and Other Requirements
Please note: The incumbent is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all of the following required licenses, certifications and other requirements.
 
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must:
  • Submit official transcripts from an accredited college or university or business school, if education is being used to meet the minimum qualifications.
  • Pass all job-related examinations/tests necessary to demonstrate required knowledge, skills and abilities, as determined by the hiring authority at time of job posting.
  • Pass a criminal history background check through law enforcement agencies.
  • Submit a copy of their State employment driving record abstract to verify their eligibility to drive for Kitsap County.
At time of appointment, the successful candidate must:
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Be able to fulfill all traveling requirements of this position and meet the qualifications and guidelines of the Fleet Risk Control Policies in the operation of a motor vehicle on County business.
