Position Summary Description

The California Nevada Cement Association (CNCA) is a non-profit trade association whose mission is to expand the use of portland cement throughout California and Nevada. Member companies are cement producers and shippers in these two states.

In the position of Pavement Engineer, CNCA is seeking a highly motivated professional to develop markets for its Pavement Solutions Program with new positions in Southern and Northern California. The goal of this program is to establish CNCA as a technical resource with the goal of increasing the market share for concrete streets and local roads and concrete parking areas for public infrastructure and private development. Other solutions to be promoted will include cement used in sub-grade applications.

The candidate must have the ability to develop strong business relationships and possess a tireless work ethic. Extensive regional travel will be required to establish and sustain essential contact with public officials, contractors, suppliers, owners, engineers and member companies. The Pavement Engineer will also collaborate with pertinent agencies, contractors and engineering firms to advance CNCA’s market penetration goals.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of pavement design and soils, construction and maintenance is preferred.
  • Excellent ability to communicate with engineers, developers, contractors and city, county and state officials and engineers.
  • Superb oral/writing communication skills and proven public speaking ability.
  • Ability to develop and manage a large professional contact base.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Word, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Must be a highly energized, motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic to work with minimum supervision.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to provide suitable office space in the home, preferably in the greater Los Angeles Area or Bay Area.  
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within designated area of California/Nevada.
  • Position has no direct personnel supervisory requirements.

Educational / Experience Requirements

  • Education:  Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related engineers construction technology with professional engineering license, or pavement related construction background, preferably with a specialty in pavement design, geotechnical or materials engineering.
  • Experience:  Minimum of five years of experience in engineering and construction with technical sales or marketing background. Pre-established contacts within target markets are desired. Ability to comprehend project drawings and specifications.
