Lawrence has a population of approximately 90,000, provides a vibrant cultural scene, and is home to the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University. The City of Lawrence is seeking to fill the position of Street Division Manager in the Public Works Department. This position reports to and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Assistant Director of Public Works. The Street Division Manager directs, manages, supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of the Streets Division within the Public Works Department. Key job duties include overseeing the construction, repair, and maintenance of City streets, alleys, storm sewers, and the levee. Other key responsibilities of this position include managing the financials and reports for the division, as well as coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies. This position is responsible for the coordination and control of snow / levee flood operations.

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, public administration or a related field. At least six years of increasingly responsible experience in streets construction and maintenance, or a related field, to include two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid commercial driver’s license. The successful applicant must also pass the background check, post-offer City physical and drug screen.
