Public Works Superintendent
Salary: $7,382 - $8,862 Monthly

The Public Works Superintendent plans, coordinates, implements, and oversees assigned programs, projects, and initiatives including construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, culverts, bridges, and waterways; directs, coordinates, and monitors the work of assigned staff, consultants, vendors, and contractors; and performs a variety of professional, administrative, and programmatic work in support of assigned programs including serving as a liaison to, coordinating with, and providing high level administrative support and staff assistance to County staff, boards, committees, and outside agencies.
Additional duties include participating in the selection, training, motivation, and evaluation of assigned personnel; overseeing and participating in the development and administration of the program’s budget; ensuring that program expenditures and cost estimates are adequately documented and monitored throughout the program area; negotiating and resolving sensitive and controversial issues; conducting a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies; and giving instruction and technical assistance to the work of crews.
The required experience and education are as follows:
• Five years of increasingly responsible road or waterway construction or maintenance experience including three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility
• Equivalent to completion of two years of college with major coursework in civil engineering, public administration, business administration, or a related field
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, public administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
