The City of Fruita is seeking a Wastewater Facility Superintendent - Division Head to provide management of our BNR 2.3 MGD oxidation ditch process, with 2nd generation ATAD, processes for solids handling. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, plan, organize, prioritize, delegate, empower and supervise Wastewater Facility employees; prepare various reports on operations and activities; ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local rules, laws, and regulations. The City of Fruita is a rural community of 12,200, located in the Grand Valley on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies. The closest large City is Grand Junction (5 miles east, pop. 80,000). Fruita offers some of the best mountain biking in Colorado with major ski resorts within a 2 hour drive and several local ski slopes within 1 hour. The area is noted for its big game hunting, camping, and white water rafting.
Applicants must have a degree with course work in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and/or other related environmental fields and a minimum of eight years related experience or ten years field experience related to advanced wastewater treatment processes for BNR, and an understanding of thermal treatment of biosolids. Applicants must have a valid Colorado Class “A” Wastewater Operators Certification and have effective oral and written communication skills. Experience in management and supervision required.
