MANAGER III (FLEET SERVICES 30012-17)
City of Dallas, Equipment and Building Services Department
We are seeking an energetic, innovative, customer service-focused, self-motivated fleet manager with supervisory, planning/analysis, contract management, specification writing and procurement experience. In addition to excellent oral and written communication skills, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in various aspects of the public or private fleet life cycle using automotive industry standards and best practices.
This is a senior manager position with day-to-day management oversight of either:
1) Automotive service centers; or
2) Specifications/procurement, disposal, specialty shops (salvage, tires, outsourced paint & body coordination), and parts management.
Successful experience conducting fleet utilization studies, analyzing/monitoring fleet efficiency, optimizing shop floor operations, and experience with enterprise fleet asset management systems (such as FleetFocus/M5 or others) are all desirable.
The Department maintains a diverse fleet of approximately 5,200 units used by a number of City departments for service delivery including public safety, code compliance, sanitation, utility services, park and recreation, and street/drainage maintenance. Nearly 40% of the fleet is alternatively fueled.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a public administration, business, automotive technology, or engineering plus five (5) years professional level experience in fleet management. This experience must include contract management, analysis and fleet specification development and procurement of fleet equipment. Two (2) years supervisory experience with responsibility for performance measures and budget development is also required. Requires excellent oral/written communication skills, MS Office or similar software skills. A nine (9) year combination of the specified education and/or experience will qualify.
