The City of Colorado Springs is offering an excellent career opportunity as a Senior Engineering Inspector with Public Work/City Engineering Division. The City Engineering Division provides civil engineering and related services for the Colorado Springs community by building and managing its backbone including transportation and stormwater systems. This division inspects and regulates the work of private developers who initially created most of the public infrastructure for our city. City Engineering sets and enforces the standards of design and construction that govern the way the city’s streets and drainage systems are built and maintained. Its staff is committed to providing the public with quality infrastructure through cost-effective and professional engineering services.
As a Senior Engineering Inspector, you will perform highly technical, advanced civil engineering inspection activities, and supervise staff in your assigned area.
Perform preliminary, interim and final construction inspections for civil engineering projects including roads, streets, appurtenant structures, catch basins, bridges, drainage facilities, sidewalks, curb and gutter, grading, and erosion control.
Review and approve permit applications.
Maintain construction field notes and records.
Investigate citizen and business inquiries related to assigned area of responsibility.
Ensure that all construction work complies with City codes and engineering standards, ADA(Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations, and approved engineering specifications and plans.

Physical requirements for this position include maintaining the physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, walking, crawling, stooping or kneeling for extended periods, and occasional moderate lifting.
Associates degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering technology or a related field. Significant related experience will be considered in lieu of an Associates degree.
Four years of full-time increasingly responsible experience in construction/civil engineering inspection or a closely related field.
Possess or obtain upon hire, a Colorado driver’s
Experience which demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications applicable to engineering inspections, project management, and record keeping such as Cartegraph and Microsoft Project.
