What is a Click, Listen & Learn?
The Click, Listen and Learn programs are live webcasts that are recorded and offered for sale through the APWA website. The program is 2 hours long - a typical program would have 2 speakers each with a 50 minute presentation which allows for a 10 minute Q&A for each speaker.
What topics are we looking for?
We are looking for broad public works topics that have universal application, new or innovative ideas or practices, ways to use new technology or ideas on how to improve an agency.
So – share what you know.

Learning Objectives: All proposals must include three (3) learning objectives that indicate exactly how the attendee will benefit from the presentation. Instructions for developing appropriate learning objectives are included on the online form.
No Sales-pitches Please: Direct promotions of products, services, or monetary self-interest are not appropriate education programs. APWA members are traditionally vocal in their displeasure with programs that appear to be sales presentations or promotions. APWA audiences prefer case studies from the user perspective.
Speaker Committment:: We ask that the speakers be available for a concept call about 8-10 weeks in advance of the program date to develop the learning objectives, session flow and marketing materials. We then schedule a rehearsal 1-2 weeks prior to the broadcast to verify the technology works okay and to work through any issues. The live broadcast is always on a Thursday from 10 AM - 12 PM CT - we ask that the speakers be available approximately one half hour early to ensure that everything is ready to go.
How Are Presentations Selected?
All submissions are reviewed and evaluated by APWA staff then forwarded to the appropriate technical committee for review. The evaluation process is competitive based on these criteria: (1) Relevance and Clarity (learning objectives are clearly stated using active verbs indicating exactly what the benefit would be to the learners); (2) Practical Application (presentation provides take-away knowledge material that can used by the learners in their day-to-day work settings); (3) Leading-edge (presentation addresses critical issues, emerging trends, innovative methods and technologies.)
