New APWA staff

  Dave Barr

Dave Barr has joined the APWA staff as the Rural Communications and Technical Assistance Manager. He will be working with the National RTAP program handling the management of the website (www.nationalrtap.org) and working to develop and promote National RTAP's products and resources.

Dave comes from rural Nebraska and most recently completed a two-year fellowship with the National Rural Development Partnership stationed at USDA-Rural Development in the Office of Community Development. As a Rural Policy Fellow, he helped plan and implement two national meetings and led the implementation of the 2004 NRDP Policy Consultation in Washington, D.C. He also oversaw the NRDP website and helped develop marketing and communication materials for the Partnership.

Dave graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Political Science, International Studies and English, and minoring in Japanese and Asian Studies. He enjoys traveling and has visited Japan (where he spent a year studying abroad in college), Korea, and Egypt. He also enjoys movies and dabbles in amateur film production, and will have one of his student short films distributed on a Nebraska filmmakers short film compilation tape this fall.
