Advertising in the Congress Program & Show Guide—the information most frequently referred to by Congress attendees—promotes your company where it counts. This program contains the complete information on all the Congress & Exposition activities. Referred to over and over again onsite for education session information, booth numbers and special show information, this guide is also kept by Congress attendees for future reference. Ad reservations for the Congress Program & Show Guide are due by June 16. Materials are due by June 23.

Attendee/Exhibitor Matching

APWA International Public Works is pleased to provide you with ConnectME Advantage, an easy-to-use tool for connecting with attendees interested in your products. During the registration process, we asked attendees which products they were most interested in seeing. Based on those responses, we automatically matched attendees to your company. Those attendees are able to see if they were matched to you, and send you appointment requests to meet with you at the show.

Attendee/Exhibitor Matching – Appointment Manager

Use this feature to view attendee appointment requests—then accept, deny, or propose a new meeting time. These are individuals already qualified as being interested in what you have to offer, before you ever even step foot in your booth. In addition to viewing your appointment requests here, you will also be notified via email when there is an attendee requesting an appointment with you.

Free Exhibit Passes allow you to offer the buyers you most want to meet Free exhibit hall admission—a $35 savings over the regular price. Distributing Free Exhibit Passes has proven to be one of the easiest, most effective methods of increasing booth traffic. New Product Showcase/Promotion

This promotion gives attendees the opportunity to view the most current and innovative technology in the industry. If you have a new product that was introduced to the market place after August 29, 2013, you may enter it as a New Product this year at APWA.


By entering into the New Product Promotion at APWA’s International Public Works Congress and Exposition, your company will stand out as having a product that is new to the market place within the present year. APWA has devoted a section in the Official Show Program to include a listing of your products name, product description and booth number. 

  • Only one product per exhibiting company

  • Product must have been introduced to the market after August 29, 2013

This unique, no-cost opportunity can help you showcase your company’s new products! Congress attendees and fellow exhibitors will also have the opportunity to vote at the New Product Showcase for the best new product of 2014. The winner will be announced on the last day of the show. You must have the product showcased, displayed or represented in your booth, AND the product must have been introduced after the 2013 Congress. The corresponding product poster will be displayed at the New Product Showcase on the floor where everyone can cast their vote!

Pre-Show Promotion

To ensure that you get as much booth traffic as possible, inform attendees (and potential buyers) ahead of time that your company will be exhibiting at the 2014 APWA International Public Works Congress & Exposition. Let them know who you are and what you have to offer. Target your audience, invite them to visit your booth and—most importantly—give them an incentive to do so! With so many booths to visit in such a short time, you’ll have to make your booth stand out.

Tips for executing an effective pre-show promotion:

  • Segment your audience based on their area of expertise and send out a customized pre-show invitation (tailor your promotions to a specific audience)
  • Invite clients and prospects to your booth often—a series of three or four promotions can be more effective than a single mailing
  • Switch up your marketing effort—send a postcard, and then follow up with an e-mail broadcast or telemarketing campaign
  • Send an e-mail

Want to invite your prospects and customers to The Best Show in Public Works but not sure where to start? Simply send them an e-mail! Personalize your message, include your company name, booth number and logo. Using e-mail in place of mass mailings saves you time and money. Consider updating this message for different target audiences and link to your own website—or the APWA Congress website at www.apwa.net/congress.

Public Relations & Media Coverage

Promote your presence at the 2014 APWA International Public Works Congress & Exposition!

Issue a press release to trade show and business publications ideally six weeks before the show on a new product or service you will be announcing at the show.

  • Some important tips:

        - Use product innovations to capture attention of the press
        - Send out a “media advisory” prior to the show announcing a new product to the press
        - Have high quality, media-ready photographs of your new product
        - Make sure someone in your booth is appointed to speak with press and that everyone
           in your booth knows of this individual’s designation

  • Create a press kit that includes your company information, product specification sheets, testimonials, articles featuring your company, etc. Put your press kits on CD-ROMs as this is the preferred format for the media, but keep some traditional kits with you as well.

    Helpful hints for your press kit:

        - Include press releases about your company
        - Insert a company brochure or fact sheet
        - Add photographs and company logo sheets
        - Include any articles on your company or new products
        - Include press releases on new products

  • Make sure your releases and high-resolution product shots are also available on your website.
