Get Acquainted Party

Sunday, August 17, 5–7 p.m.

APWA’s Ontario Chapter welcomes you to Congress with a party at Toronto’s premier event venue – the Liberty Grand. Connect with old and new friends while enjoying this historic lakefront facility with a beautiful outdoor courtyard surrounded by several impressive grand ballrooms. Experience the diversity Toronto has to offer with tastes from Little Italy, Chinatown, Greektown and Canadiana while enjoying "Cirque" style performances and the fabulous sounds of The Dave Murphy Band. After the party, consider a visit next door to the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), Canada's largest community event and one of the top 10 argicultural fairs in North America.*

*Return transportation not provided by APWA for those staying to visit the Canadian National Exhibition.

Get Acquainted Party Transportation to Liberty Grand
The best and fastest way to get from the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) to the Liberty Grand is to take the GO Train (GO Transit) from Union Station to Exhibition Place.

The train ride is FREE to APWA Congress attendees and exhibitors, sponsored by MetroLinx. Wear your Congress badge; it's your ticket for the train. if you have a guest without a badge with you, your guest can also ride the train for free.

  • Walk through the Skywalk from the Path Level of the MTCC South Building to Union Station. It's a 7 minute walk.
  • Take the GO Train (GO Transit) to Exhibition Place. It's a short 6 minute ride.
  • Walk from Exhibition Place to the Liberty Grand. It's a 10 minute walk.
Look for Ontario Chapter Ambassadors along the way for guidance. They're wearing red hockey jerseys.

There will also be limited bus transportation available, looping between MTCC/Sheraton/Liberty Grand between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. A one-way bus ride is about 30 minutes. Given potential traffic delays and wait time for the limited number of buses available, the Go Train is recommended.

*Note - driving to the Get Acquainted Party is not recommended as there will be no parking available at Liberty Grand.
