The position involves supervising, managing and directing three (3) staff members in the maintenance and operation of the water supply system including related facilities, meter maintenance and reading and customer service functions. Qualified applicants must be customer-oriented and have knowledge and experience in cross connection control programs, meter reading and installation, operating a SCADA system, IEPA water sampling, and an aptitude to learn and use utility billing and other software to analyze data and make reports. Position interacts directly with Village staff, customers and contractors on a daily basis.  The position may provide backup to work area and other Village Services staff, assist with snow and ice control operations, and must be available in emergency situations and for overtime work hours when required.

 

Position requires a high school diploma with vocational/technical training and a minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in water supply operations that includes supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job.  Position requires a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker certification, and a minimum IEPA Water Supply Operator Class C Certification; Class A Certification Preferred.  An Associate’s or Bachelor’s level college degree in a related field is preferred.

 

The position may require performance of physical labor, work during adverse weather conditions and in confined spaces, and the ability to safely drive light to heavy-duty trucks and operate miscellaneous equipment.  Applicants interested in this position must complete an online job application.  A copy of the job description is available on the Village website at www.villageofbloomingdale.org.
