Lead in installtion, maintenance, operation, programming and troubleshooting a diverse range of traffic control devise, communications and telecommunication equipment and advanced Traffic Management Systems. Assist with the immediate repair of any traffic control problems, the maintenance of traffic controls and methods of construction and reconstruction to be in accordance with city specifications and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Assist with the maintenance and updating of multiple computer databases and traffic signal systems, as well as blueprints, shop drawings, schematics and operation and maintenance manuals. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair signal system equipment including micro processor based signal controllers and conflict monitors, pre-emption devices, inductive loops, infrared, microwave and video detection equipment, communication equipment, audio and countdown LED pedestrian signals, traffic monitoring cameras, fiber optic and programmable clocks and all hard-wired or solar powered flashing beacons. Construct, maintain and repair overhead and underground utilities associated with signal equipment using bucket trucks, aerial platform truck and digger derrick. Research and test new and evolving microprocessor based technologies to use in electronic traffic signal operations, maintenance, repair and installation activities. Other duties as required.
Associate's Degree or technical school with major course work in electronic technology or related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Technical knowledge of engineering techniques and application of fundamentals and mathematics, knowledge of blueprints, specifications, map reading and specific constructing related to traffic control.
Commerical Driver's License, Class B required. (Class A preferred) IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level II certification preferred.
