This is skilled work in the maintenance of buildings, structures, furniture, and playground equipment. Employee will be required to administer janitorial and other service/ maintenance contracts (HVAC, fire alarm, pest control, etc), ensuring services are provided according to contract specifications. Employee must supervise employees in the repairs of buildings, structures, furniture and playground equipment. Employee must write specifications for maintenance, repair, and minor construction tasks for buildings and structures. Employee will be required to know, use and operate all tools and shop equipment, and work independently on projects assigned him by the Facilities Maintenance Division Manager. Employee must have considerable experience in all buildings trades which may be, but are not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, roofing, painting and signage. Employee will be required to work indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions and in a noisy atmosphere. It may be necessary to climb stairs, work off scaffolds, bend to do building inspections, and stand for long periods of time working. Employee must be able to lift objects up to 75 pounds in the course of the work. Employee will be responsible for doing reports on projects as required by the Facilities Maintenance Division Manager. Must be able to coordinate complex projects involving many crafts.

 

Minimum Employment Standards

Graduation from a high school or equivalent with additional training in vocational school, or  an equivalent combination.  Considerable experience in the various building and structure maintenance trades with three to five years supervisory experience.  A valid Florida Class D CDL is preferred.
