This is responsible technical and administrative work of considerable difficulty in the control and supervision of the City's total water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
The employee in this class is responsible for the operation, maintenance and improvement of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, and is responsible for the direction and supervision of all the subordinates assigned to this division.
The employee exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment in developing and carrying out the total program. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior via conferences with the employee, through study of reports submitted, by direct observation and by the degree of achievement of established goals, objectives, timeliness of project completion and work plans.
1. Have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in civil, mechanical, chemical, environmental or sanitary engineering; business or public administration; or other appropriate job related field.
2. Possess at least five (5) years progressively responsible experience in construction and maintenance of water distribution and/or wastewater collection systems servicing a population of 100,000+, including three (3) years of experience working in a supervisory capacity. Experience must have included technical and administrative responsibilities in water distribution and/or wastewater collections systems.
