Are you looking for a job where you can turn a design vision into reality? We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, multitasking individual to join the Capital Projects Section team as a Senior Engineer. This position combines the technical knowledge of engineering with the art and vision of planning. The duties include preparation and management of engineering studies, designs, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of capital projects and supervise, train and evaluate assigned professional and technical staff.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an industrious worker with four years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience, including one year supervisory responsibility and a bachelor’s degree with major course work in civil engineering. A valid Certificate of Registration as a professional Civil Engineer in the State of California and a valid California C driver’s license are required. Our ideal candidate will be proficient in working on multiple projects; will have excellent communication skills; interact well with customers; will execute confident and excellent judgment in making decisions; and will have a sharp eye for reviewing a variety of documents for accuracy.

Our Department

This is a full time position in the Capital Projects Section of the Engineering Division in the Public Works Department and works closely with the other Public Works Sections, including Construction, Land Development, Public Services and Traffic. This position reports to a Principal Civil Engineer. The Capital Projects Section currently comprises of two Senior Engineers, four Project Managers, and three Assistant/Associate Civil Engineers. Current projects include: athletic fields, trails, parks, community centers, city facilities, utilities, roadways and bicycle/pedestrian facilities.
