The Town of Castle Rock has an outstanding opportunity for a Project Manager in our Public Works department to work on the North Meadows Extension Project. Under the general direction of the Engineering Manager, this position ensures that all infrastructure construction for the Town is completed in accordance with Town requirements and approved plan specifications by overseeing the inspection of all of the North Meadows Extension Project. Will assist in management of the project by overseeing daily construction activities, reviewing and approving pay requests, and performing all materials inspection and construction documentation for the project. Performs duties in a manner consistent with the stated values of the organization.
This position performs tasks associated with management and oversight of daily construction activities such as caissons, abutment construction, pier caps, girder placement, rebar placement, deck construction, bridge railing, SME wall construction, street lighting, street marking, Grading, Erosion, and Sediment Control (GESC), and related bridge construction. Work includes assisting others in solving construction issues that may occur with design of construction drawing, differing site conditions in the field, utility locates in the field, and field changes. Also solves issues related to failures in construction of detention ponds, drainage areas, non-compliance construction, and failures with pavement sections.
Additional duties include daily observation and inspection of construction to the approved construction plans and specifications. Work includes instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others, monitoring standards, coordinating activities and providing direction as required. Assures Town policies and procedures are followed. Will review and recommend approval or denial of pay requests and project related submittals to ensure the project is within the allocated project budget. Will approve dry utility construction within the Town of Castle Rock right-of-way. Reviews and approves asphalt pavement and concrete designs for the Town of Castle Rock and assures that all pavement designs are in compliance with the project specifications. Collects, distributes, tracks and recommends the approval/denial of Field Change Orders. Coordinates construction issues with other Town departments including Utilities, Public Relations and Parks departments.
Qualifications: Generally a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field; supplemented by a minimum of three years of experience (four to five years preferred) in civil engineering related to construction management; or any equivalent combination; and including a minimum of one year experience in related road and bridge construction. Must have successfully completed the CDOT Inspector Qualification Program, pursuant to CDOT Policy Memo 25 issued March 4, 2005. References of inspection experience shall be available, and may be requested at any time during the Contract. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado is preferred. A valid Colorado Driver’s license is required for traveling to and from construction sites. Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
