St. Charles has 2 Public Works Division Manager positions available:

1) Public Services Division Manager
Responsible the safe construction, maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of streets, storm sewers, alleys, curbs/gutters, sidewalks, and right of ways; procurement and management of contracts; maintenance of City buildings, facilities, and public spaces; traffic control signs throughout the City; special events; urban forestry to include chemical application and mowing contracts; and the snow removal program.

2) Water Division Manager
Responsible the safe operation and maintenance of the Water Division, which includes: water storage, pumping and supply, water distribution, water treatment facilities, and ensuring compliance with municipal, state, and federal regulations regarding operation, maintenance, and finished water quality standards of a public water supply. This position may also be required to assist with wastewater and sanitary collection activities related to operation, maintenance and regulatory issues.

Requirements for both positions:
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree, minimum of eight (8) years of experience, and five (5) years supervisory experience. Must possess the ability to take initiative, and exercise professional, independent judgment to plan work, formulate recommendations and make sound decisions. Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential. Requires strong computer skills and the ability to work under varying environmental conditions and lift up to 50 pounds. In addition, applicants must be able and willing to respond to emergency calls twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, carry a wireless communications device, and possess a valid CDL or acquire one within 6 months of hire. This position has residency requirements which must be met within 1 year. If selected, successful completion of a background check, physical, functional capacity evaluation, and drug screen are required.
