FOREMAN – WATER/SEWER MAINTENANCE DIVISION
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Mount Prospect Public Works department is seeking a dependable candidate for the position of Public Works Foreman in the Water/Sewer Maintenance Division.
The individual will supervise and/or participate in the responsible and professional delivery of a full-range of municipal services and programs including, but not limited to, wastewater collection system maintenance, water distribution system maintenance, street maintenance, building maintenance, storm sewer maintenance, parking lot maintenance, forestry and grounds maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and civic events. Assist in the planning and implementation of tasks necessary to achieve the goals of the Public Works Department as defined by the Director of Public Works. Work often entails utilizing manual labor, construction trade skills, and heavy equipment.
Associate’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, civil engineering or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, civil engineering or a related field preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience required. A minimum of two (2) years experience as a supervisor preferred.
Valid Class B driver’s license (CDL) from the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire. State of Illinois Wastewater Collection System Operator certification or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire required. Valid Class C Water Operator’s License from the State of Illinois preferred.
Starting Rate: $40.00 - $43.42 depending on qualifications. Minimum 40 hours per week, plus each foreman serves a rotating “on-call” duty, which occurs approximately once every eight (8) weeks. Additionally, foremen may be assigned and rotated , at the employer’s option, to any job, assignment, or any shift.
Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, which includes a drug and alcohol screen and functional job screening. Mandatory residency requirement within one year of employment (Randall Road on the west, Route 176 on the north, Lake Michigan on the east, Route 64 to the south).
