The City of Commerce City has an excellent opportunity for two Project Manager-Capital Projects/Transportation positions within the Department of Public Works. The City is looking for creative, high energy, highly motivated and team oriented professionals with a strong commitment to quality and service.
The Project Manager–Capital Projects/Transportation performs overall project management for the delivery of various transportation capital and major repair/maintenance projects from inception to completion including development and management of the project scope, schedule and budget. This includes: planning, design, construction, environmental clearance, right-of-way & easement acquisition, contract management, public information & outreach, Inspection and surveying. This position performs skilled technical and non-technical work to simultaneously complete complex civil engineering projects.
Teamwork, cooperation and communications are highly valued traits required for these positions.
These are key positions within the city as they will help implement portions of the recent citizen-approved Quality Community Initiatives (QCI) sales tax measure. Potential projects totaling over $166M include: Tower Road widening, Highway 2 widening, Tower Road/Pena Boulevard On Ramp, and completion of the 104th Avenue, Phase 3B Widening.

Qualifications: Generally a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution and at least three years’ experience in capital project management, construction management, municipal engineering or wqa closely related field is required. Must have current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Colorado or ability to obtain within six months of hire. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
