The City of Anaheim, CA Public Works department is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician IV to perform journey level work in the maintenance and repair of fire suppression apparatus, other Fire Department related equipment and vehicles, heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, and other motorized equipment.
The ideal candidate must have journey-level medium and heavy duty vehicle maintenance experience, have strong customer service values, and is eager to work as part of a team.
Additional Compensation: Possession of Mechanic Certification pay as a Master Automobile Technician or Master Heavy-Duty Truck Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence shall be paid in the amount of $200 for each successfully completed exam, with an annual maximum of $2,000 per Master Certification for Auto/Light Truck Series or Medium Heavy-Duty Truck Series. Employees receive an additional $200 for each successfully completed exam for a second Master certification in either Auto/Light Truck Series or Medium Heavy-Duty Truck Series up to a maximum of $4000 for a dual certification in both Series. Fleet Services provides quality and competitive maintenance services to our customers in a timely, environmentally friendly manner. Fleet Services has a 40-member team, operating out of a 47,000 square-foot, 30-bay repair facility. Fleet Services has an annual operating budget of approximately $12 million and is responsible for purchasing and maintaining all of the vehicles and motorized equipment used by the City of Anaheim. In addition to the vehicle fleets of City departments, this includes some small equipment such as chain saws and generators used by various City programs
Requirements: Journey level experience as an equipment mechanic. Principles of equipment and mechanical repair, hydraulic equipment repair; and applicable safety requirements.
Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Class A California Driver's License or a valid Class B California Driver’s License with appropriate Tank and/or Hazmat endorsement(s) within six months of appointment. Must provide own basic mechanics hand tools (minimum of up to 3/4 inch drive). Possession of a California State of Fire Training Fire Mechanic Level I certification or higher is highly desirable. Possession of ASE certifications, particularly those in Medium-Heavy Truck series, are highly desirable.
