The City of Anaheim, CA Public Works Department seeks a dynamic Principal Traffic Engineer. The Principal Traffic Engineer is pivotal in addressing the City’s traffic and transportation needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in traffic engineering and will relate easily to those contacted in the course of work, including other employees at all levels, members of the public and staff from other agencies. Candidates must have strong experience with capital projects involving traffic engineering and/or regional traffic planning.

 

The Principal Traffic Engineer will supervise, assign, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing traffic engineering services for an assigned section including traffic systems and operations and planning; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

 

Qualifications:
Have four years of responsible experience in traffic and transportation engineering including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience supplemented by a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in traffic or civil engineering or a related field. Have the ability to coordinate and direct traffic engineering programs; supervise, organize, and review the work of assigned staff involved in traffic engineering; select, train, and evaluate staff; recommend and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for providing traffic engineering services; understand the organization and operation of the organization and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities

 

Must have possession of, or the ability to obtain, State of California Professional Engineer registration in Civil orTraffic and possess an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
