The City of Reno is seeking an experienced professional to be the next FACILITIES MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS MANAGER. Reno is a full-service city with a budget of $352 million and has approximately 1,100 full-time employees. The City has a Council-Management form of government. Reno’s population is approximately 220,000 and is the largest city in northern Nevada.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Maintenance & Operations Manager for the City of Reno is a dynamic, energetic, and results oriented individual who will supervise and coordinate the activities and operations associated with the construction, maintenance, and repair of all City buildings and facilities. In addition to experience in the facilities maintenance field, it is highly desirable to have experience overseeing and monitoring a maintenance management system, program budgeting, and complex administrative duties.

In addition, the individual selected will coordinate the organization, staffing, and operational activities within the Facility Maintenance section; participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities and recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures for the Facility Maintenance section. 

This is an at-will appointive position exempt from the City’s Civil Service system.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities such as five years of increasingly responsible facility maintenance experience including three years of administrative and supervisory experience and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public works administration, business administration, engineering or a related field.

Public sector and Private sector experience is desirable. Construction experience is also desirable.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The City of Reno is offering an excellent salary and benefit package. The current salary range is $95,587 to $125,220. Appointment will be made in the bottom half of the range. 

Existing benefits* for this position include: 

  • Nevada PERS retirement plan. Vesting in 5 years
  • No Social Security participation (1.45% Medicare deduction is required)
  • City paid medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage; 100% paid for employee and 55% for dependants
  • Twelve paid holidays
  • Deferred compensation plans (457 and 401a) available, with up to 5% City match
  • Vacation leave accrued at 5 hours each bi-weekly pay period
  • Sick leave accrued at 4 hours each bi-weekly pay period
  • City paid life insurance and long-term disability 

Currently, residents of the state of Nevada do not pay state income tax. 

*The employee group that represents this position is in negotiations with the City; therefore, the benefits and salary are subject to change.
