Public Works Director
The City of Fernley currently has a vacancy for a Public Works Director. This position plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the programs and activities of the City's Public Works Division including utilities, water and waste water treatment, parks, general services, and streets. The Public Works Director is responsible to formulate policies, goals, and directives, and provide expert professional assistance to City management staff on Public Works matters and is responsible for policy development, program planning, fiscal management and operation of assigned functional areas including engineering, streets and collections systems, parks maintenance, facilities maintenance and fleet services. The position will oversee professional civil engineering work and design for a variety of development and public works programs and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager as well as represent the City on a variety of matters at the City, State, and National level.

Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis on Civil Engineering or a closely related field and/or five (5) years of supervisory/administrative experience in a major municipal public works setting which included progressively responsible civil engineering work; operations and maintenance experience of water and sewer treatment systems, water distribution and sewer collection systems, parks, public facilities, streets and storm drainage planning and maintenance.
Valid registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Nevada is preferred. Valid Nevada Class C Driver's license.
