Water Resources Department Director
($129,750 - $174,637 annually)
We will rely on your superior leadership abilities to plan, organize and direct activities of the Water Resources Department. You will be responsible for long-range planning, preparing reports and maintaining records relating to the department. You will also be responsible for identification, implementation and success of a continuous improvement and increased productivity program within the department and direct or conduct special studies related to operations of the department. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Act as a representative of the City at professional organization meetings, with other utilities, with representatives of county, state and federal regulatory agencies and with local businesses to administer the operations and improvements for the departmentNegotiate with outside partiesWork with legislators and regulatory agencies (such as the Department of Water Resources and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality [ADEQ]) for the purpose of developing polices and implementing strategic plansProvide direction and planning for water and sewer serviceProvide long-range planning and oversee operations, maintenance, repair and budget preparation for all of the City's water supply, treatment, distribution, metering, wastewater collection, water reclamation and irrigation systemsSpecialize in policy development and planning in the water and wastewater area
The position reports directly to the Deputy City Manager through meetings, conferences, and reports regarding problems encountered and overall results achieved.
This class is FLSA exempt-executive.
Minimum Qualification(s) Required.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Sanitary Engineering, Public or Business Administration or related field7-9 years of progressively responsible senior-level management experience in a public mid- to large-size organization and/or utility systemMust possess a valid Arizona driver's license by hire dateGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Business or Public Administration and registration as a Professional Engineer are preferred
