PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to monitor, inspect and review site development and public improvements, to specify, design and manage construction of the local drainage improvement program, and to review plats of surveys, specifications and plans and prepare specifications for various projects. The work is performed under the direction of the Assistant Village Engineer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Monitors and inspects site development and public improvement projects to ensure compliance with applicable ordinances, codes and requirements.
Reviews plats, plans, permits and specifications.
Prepares a variety of reports, documents and correspondence; prepares plans and specifications; prepares AutoCAD drawings and maps. Generates forms and templates.
Coordinates local drainage program; collects data, prepares AutoCAD designs and lay outs.
Responds to inquiries and complaints from field contractors and residents; provides technical assistance on mapping and mathematical functions to various Village departments. Attends a variety of meetings.
Maintains files of as-built plans and documents; records documents at the County Clerk’s office.
Maintains availability on call to respond to emergency situations.
Performs a variety of clerical functions.
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Provides assistance to other Village Services Divisions as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent with college-level course work in Civil Engineering and two to three years of public works inspection and surveying experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. Position requires APWA Construction Inspection certification and the possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate but not constant physical effort which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing twenty to fifty pounds, and may occasionally involve objects and materials up to 125 pounds.
