Utilities Director

 

The City ofSidney(pop. 20,000) is conducting a national search for an experienced Utilities Director.  The Utilities Director is responsible for the management and operation of the City’s Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Underground Utilities Division under the supervision of theAssistantCityManager/ Public Works Director.

 

The Utilities Director directs the activities and operations relating to public utility initiatives and assumes management responsibility including developing and implementing best practices of water and wastewater systems, establishing goals and procedures, evaluating and prioritizing projects, assigning tasks and monitoring the performance of subordinates, developing and monitoring budgets, forecasting needs, approving expenditures, maintaining records, preparing operational and financial reports for all Utilities Department functions of the City’s water, sewer, and storm water systems. This position also enforces the City’s Ordinances pertaining to the Water and Sewer infrastructure and recommends revisions of these ordinances to Council for adoption.

 

In addition to the requirements listed below; qualified individuals will be expected to have advanced leadership and management knowledge and skills in budgeting, operations, grant administration, and excellent supervision skills.  

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Environmental, Biology, or Chemistry or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices governing the operation, service, construction, and maintenance of municipal water and sewer systems.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience with increased responsibilities in water and wastewater systems, operations and management.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory, managerial, or administrative experience in municipal water and/or sewer activities
  • A Class IV Water or Wastewater License and a Class III Water or Wastewater Operator License (dual certification) issued by OEPA (or ability to obtain certification within a time specified by the City) is required.

Salary Range:    $66,352 minimum to $82,659 maximum.  Pay increase within the stated pay range available after successfully completing six months of service. Excellent benefits.  Benefit Summary available on our website at www.sidneyoh.com
