The City of Gainesville, Florida is seeking a Director of General Services with strong leadership; fleet management and financial management experience; and administrative skills to direct and manage organization-wide programs and services for our Facilities and Fleet Management departments and Vertical Capital Projects with emphasis on health, safety and sustainability.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the following:
work concerning green building rating system standardsenergy managementfacilities repair, maintenance and securitythe repair, maintenance and administration of a diversified fleet of vehicles and equipment with emphasis on suitability for job application and minimal life cycle cost for each unit in the fleetVertical Capital Improvement Program with focus on timely completion of projects meeting specifications and within budget.
To be considered for this position you must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, engineering, construction science, planning or related field and at least eight (8) or more years of progressively responsible fleet experience of which at least six (6) years are in fleet management. Fleet management experience should include operation of in-house garage(s) and the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures.
Financial management experience including budgeting, cost estimates, and life cycle cost analysis is strongly desired.
A Master of Business Administration degree is preferred and may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
Our ideal candidate will hold the Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) and Facilities Management Certification (FMC).
