Assistant City Engineer- Located on the picturesque central Oregon coast, Newport’s natural beauty, abundance of art and culture, and endless supply of outdoor activities make it a premier locale for residents and tourists alike. With a population of over 10,000, Newport is known as the “friendliest city” and is home to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center, NOAA’s Pacific Marine Operations and has recently been chosen as the site for the Pacific Marine Energy Center (the only wave generator testing site in the country).
The position is responsible for assisting the Public Works Director with oversight, construction, and operation of City infrastructure; including water treatment and distribution, storm drainage facilities, streets and city buildings. Works with Local Improvement Districts to accomplish public improvements.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and five years of related experience or an applicable combination of education and experience that demonstrates requisite skills. A master’s degree is preferred. Compensation is $56.112 to $73,884 DOE. The new Assistant City Engineer will have a track record of collaboration and effective design.
