Reporting out of the Capital Improvement Program/ Engineering Division of the Public Works Department of the City of Rockford this position assists the City Engineer in planning, development, implementation and management of the City’s five year capital improvements program. Serves the public by overseeing responsible professional engineering work in managing the capital improvements program construction which includes the repair, replacement and expansion of municipal infrastructure facilities such as streets, storm and sanitary sewers, bridges, street lighting, traffic signals, water main, parking decks, and parking lots. Performs related duties as assigned or directed.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering, construction management or closely related field, Master’s Degree preferred. A professional Engineering License is required. Seven years of responsible experience in public works administration, engineering design and construction inspection, or related experience, which provides the knowledge, abilities and skills required by the position. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may be substituted for the required experience.
