Chippewa County presently is seeking a highly motivated professional engineer with experience in highway or public works operation to be its next Deputy Highway Commissioner. The position assists the Highway Commissioner in the overall leadership and management of the department; oversees $18 million of highway and bridge projects annually and supervises the department’s construction, engineering, bridge, patrol and shop functions. Qualified candidates will demonstrate an ability to “step up” and assume increasing responsibilities and have strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with at least three (3) years recent civil engineering experience and three (3) years previous supervisory and administrative experience. Must have professional engineering registration in the State of Wisconsin, or be able to transfer professional engineering registration if out of state. Federal bridge inspection certification is required within 24 months from date of hire. Must have professional work experience in highway department or public works operations. A valid driver’s license is required.

Salary: $66,565- $84,543, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
