2 years of progressive experience in architectural, landscape architectural, or engineering work related to construction project management and/or design for buildings and sites. Bachelor's degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or engineering, preferably including coursework in structures, mechanical/electrical design, or other building and site related specialties. Strong computer background with working knowledge of scheduling software such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent, and AutoCad or MicroStation software. Knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in construction projects for buildings, sites, streets, and utilities projects. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants, property owners, and the public. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Engineering Intern or Professional Engineer preferred. A Valid NC Class "C" Driver's License.
Monitors projects, maintains records and documents, and prepares reports. Interprets project conditions and conformance with plans, program, budget, codes, and standards and manages consultants and contractor delivery services for projects for City buildings, site development, utility and street construction. Prepares and evaluates contracts and cost estimates; tabulates and verifies payments. Prepares preliminary design and drawings for improvements and new construction. Oversees, supervises, or inspects work of City forces as needed.
