2014 APWA North American Snow Conference

The Show for Snow – The Premier Event in Snow & Ice Management

May 4-7, 2014

Duke Energy Center

Cincinnati, OH

The Snow Conference offers you a unique opportunity to reach the most concentrated group of targeted snow and ice professionals you’ll find anywhere. More than 1,500 public works individuals from city, township, county and rural street divisions; state departments of transportation; and private sector organizations will be on hand, ready to kick some tires on the exhibit floor! Attendees view the exhibition as a valuable element of their educational experience, with over 60% spending more than four hours of face-to-face time with exhibitors, meaning you’ll have a chance to influence purchasing decisions, build important relationships and expand the reach of your brand directly from your booth. If your focus relates to snow and ice removal, this is the can’t-miss event on your calendar!

Exhibitor Solutions Theater Presentations

All time slots have been filled

We are pleased to invite your company to submit a proposal for the Exhibitor Solutions Theater at The Show for Snow. These briefings will be held on Monday and Tuesday. These educational sessions are unique (and complimentary!) opportunities for exhibitors to reach snow and ice professionals. Each briefing will be 45 minutes long and should demonstrate how your company’s technology or service provides a solution which addresses the needs of the snow fighting industry.

Proposals are due by March 24, 2014. Open to exhibitors only. Because of the limited number of time slots available, not all proposals will be selected. Every effort will be made to notify applicants of their proposal’s status by March 28, 2014.

Free Preferred Customer Expo Passes

Free Preferred Customer Expo Passes allow you to offer the buyers you most want to meet free exhibit hall admission—a $35 savings over the regular price. Distributing free exhibit passes has proven to be one of the easiest, most effective methods of increasing booth traffic. An effective Free Preferred Customer Expo Pass campaign is the most important step to exceeding your goals at the 2014 APWA North American Snow Conference.

Research conducted by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research confirms that exhibitors who use free exhibit passes attract better, more qualified traffic at their booths than exhibitors who do not. Furthermore, invitations from exhibitors rank as the number one incentive for trade show attendance.

New Product Promotion

This promotion gives attendees the opportunity to view the most current and innovative technology in the industry. If you have a new product that was introduced to the market place after April 10, 2013, you may enter it as a New Product this year at the APWA Snow Conference.

By entering into the New Product Promotion at the Snow Conference, your company will stand out as having a product that is new to the market place within the last year. APWA has devoted a section in the Official Show Program to include a listing of your product name, product description and booth number.

  • Only one product per exhibiting company
  • Only exhibiting companies will be allowed to participate
  • Product must have been introduced to the market after April 10, 2013.

To be included in the New Product Promotion, click here to complete the form by April 1, 2014 (PDF).

New Product Showcase

The New Product Showcase will be located outside the exhibit hall. This is a unique, no-cost opportunity to showcase your company and new products to Snow Conference attendees. For your product to be a part of the New Product Showcase, you must have the product presented, displayed or represented in your booth and the product must have been introduced after April 10, 2013.

We look forward to adding your company to APWA’s gallery of the latest products in the public works industry. Please note that space is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. New Product Showcase material must be brought to the APWA North American Snow Conference registration desk on Saturday, May 3, 2014 or before 3 P.M. on Sunday May 4, 2014.

New Product Showcase guidelines:

  1. Request display space by submitting your New Product Showcase application form to us by April 10, 2014. Space is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. The New Product Showcase display is for new product photos (photos may vary in size). All photos should be mounted on a single vertical 22” x 28” board made of gatorboard, formcore, sintra or any other light weight material that is 1/8” - 1/4” thick.
  3. Photos should be captioned with descriptions of 20 words or less and should be in an easy to read font at least 24 points in size. Captions should be mounted to the display board near the photo they are describing.
  4. Include your company name and booth number on your display board.
  5. Questions? Call Diana Forbes at 816-595-5242.

Click here for the New Product Showcase form (PDF). The deadline for submitting is April 1, 2014 – space is limited!

Pre-Show Promotion

To ensure that you get as much booth traffic as possible, inform attendees (and potential buyers) ahead of time that your company will be exhibiting at the 2014 North American Snow Conference. Let them know who you are and what you have to offer. Target your audience, invite them to visit your booth and—most importantly—give them an incentive to do so! With so many booths to visit, you’ll have to make your booth stand out.

Tips for executing an effective pre-show promotion:

  • Segment your audience based on their area of expertise and send out a customized pre-show invitation (tailor your promotions to a specific audience)
  • Invite clients and prospects to your booth often—a series of three or four promotions can be more effective than a single mailing
  • Switch up your marketing effort—send a postcard, and then follow up with an e-mail or telemarketing campaign
  • Send an e-mail

Want to invite your prospects and customers to The Show for Snow, but not sure where to start? Simply send them an e-mail! Using e-mail in place of mass mailings saves you time and money. Personalize your message by including your company name, booth number and company logo. Consider updating this message for different target audiences and link to your own website—or the APWA Snow Conference website at www.apwa.net/snow.

Public Relations & Media Coverage

Promote your presence at the 2014 APWA North American Snow Conference!
Issue a press release to trade show and business publications ideally six weeks before the show on a new product or service you will be announcing at the show.

  • Some important tips:
    • Use product innovations to capture attention of the press
    • Send out a “media advisory” prior to the show announcing a new product to the press
    • Have high quality, media-ready photographs of your new product
    • Make sure someone in your booth is appointed to speak with press and that everyone in your booth knows of this individual’s designation

  • Make sure your releases and high-resolution product shots are also available on your website.
