New Board member appointed

Elizabeth Treadway of the North Carolina Chapter has been appointed to APWA's Board of Directors as the Director of Region III. Her appointment fills the unexpired term of Noel Thompson, who assumed the position of President-Elect during the APWA Congress and Exposition in San Antonio.

Treadway is a Vice President with AMEC Earth and Environmental, Greensboro, N.C., and has been with the firm for eight years. Her work consists of consulting with local governments on public works program assessment, policy development, financing, organizational staffing, public relations, regulatory compliance and strategic planning. Prior to joining AMEC, she worked for the City of Greensboro for 16 years in public works, joining in 1983 as a Transportation Planner and eventually becoming the Environmental Services Director.

Treadway has been actively involved in APWA since 1986 at both the chapter and national levels. In addition to having been Chapter President, she has been the committee chair for the Administrative, Audit, Budget, Education and Training, Nominating, State Government Affairs, and PACE Committees. At the national level, she has been a member of the Water Resources Management Technical Committee (two years as the chair), Government Affairs Committee, and Congress Planning Committee (one year as the chair). She has also been a member of the Water Environment Federation and the EPA National Drinking Water Advisory Council. Treadway was recognized as one of APWA's Top Ten Public Works Leaders in 1997.
