Member Services Hotline provides member benefit

Talk about a great deal.

For a number of years, APWA members have been able to call a toll-free 800 number (1-800-848-APWA) at our headquarters offices in Kansas City to contact the Member Relations Department only. Now, members can call the same number to reach anyone on the staff in Kansas City.

"This is definitely an expanded benefit for our members," says Lee Hawkins, Director of Member Relations. "It's a way of providing members with easier access to staff, and improves our ability to transact business as efficiently as possible."

This "Member Services Hotline" number will ring to the switchboard, the hours for which are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST (the switchboard is also open over the lunch hour). After hours, the caller will be able to leave a message for a specific staff person, a department, or in the general voice mailbox.

Patty Mahan, Membership Marketing and Development Manager, points out that the 800 number is not just for members. "Non-members who need to contact APWA can use the hotline number also," she says. "We have non-members who attend workshops, register for 'Click, Listen and Learns,' and purchase publications. This change allows us to serve all groups."

According to Hawkins, the toll-free number provides great value to APWA members. "Quick access to APWA headquarters, from wherever a member may be, without having to deal with a long distance number," he says. "It's a great benefit."
