Nickole Blankenship has joined the APWA staff as the Executive/Communications Coordinator. Her prior job was with a commercial design company where she served as Office Manager and Administrative Assistant.

Ms. Blankenship currently works with the executive staff and communications aspects of the APWA Board of Directors. She serves as editor of the Public Works Executive Briefing, maintains the association and APWA Reporter calendars, handles APWA Reporter classified ads, and serves as advertising liaison.

Ms. Blankenship received her B.A in Textile, Apparel and Home Furnishings Merchandising from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. She resides in Gladstone, Missouri.

Ann Daniels has joined the staff as Professional Program Development Manager. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association and Missouri City Management Association.

For the past twenty years, Ms. Daniels has served in local government administration as the Mayor of the Town of Carrollton, Missouri, for ten years, Executive Director of the Missouri Valley Regional Planning Commission, and City Administrator for the cities of Chillicothe, Fulton, Platte City, and Riverside, Missouri. She has been involved in all facets of the daily operations of government in addition to developing and administering capitol improvement projects totaling over $45 million for airports, streets, parks, pools, water, wastewater treatment, natural gas, and electric facilities. Ms. Daniels has also served as President of the Board of Directors for OATS, a statewide transportation system operating in the non-metro areas, and Vice Chairman of the Mid America Regional Council Solid Waste Management Council.

Ms. Daniels received her B.S. in Public Administration from Park University. She resides in Gladstone, Missouri, where she enjoys spending time with her two sons and two grandchildren.

Teresa Hon has taken the newly-created position of Professional Development Coordinator, where her primary responsibilities involve assisting the Professional, Educational and Technical (P/E/T) Committees. She brings with her 18 years of association management experience with another national association-the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

Prior to the relocation of the NFHS to Indianapolis, Indiana, Ms. Hon coordinated member services for two of the association’s six professional membership programs, was administrative support liaison to four national committees, and assisted with the coordination of the process to select the national high school debate topic. She says that while working as an executive administrative assistant in a high school sports and activity-related association is dramatically different from public works, the similarities in basic structure and operation of the associations, as well as management of member services, have made her transition relatively smooth.

In addition to the involvement of her children in multiple sport activities, Ms. Hon enjoys working outdoors with her family. Along with her husband, Tom, and two sons, Ryan and Conyer, she is undertaking the contracting and construction of their third custom-built home outside of Platte City, Missouri.

Christopher A. Lemon has joined the APWA staff as the Web Developer for the association’s Internet web site as well as all other web-related development. Prior to joining APWA, he worked five years for one of the top three long distance companies, providing hardware and software support for three years and moving into web development where he remained for two years. While doing web development he was the lead developer and designer of the corporate on-line web site for the creation and management of all purchase authorization requests coming into the Accounting organization.

Teri Newhouse, CPA, has joined the APWA staff as Director of Finance/Controller. She is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and has over seven years of experience serving Not-for-Profits, Municipalities, and Health Care Organizations as an auditor and consultant.

For the past four years, Ms. Newhouse served as a member of the assurance staff at KPMG LLP where she planned, supervised, and reported on financial and compliance audits, attestation engagements, and performance management reviews. Prior to working for KPMG LLP, Ms. Newhouse worked for a local CPA firm in a similar capacity.

Ms. Newhouse received her B.S.B.A in Accounting and Finance from Kansas State University. She also serves as a member of the Finance Committee for the Youth Symphony of Greater Kansas City. She and her husband, Michael, reside in Kansas City, Missouri.

She is responsible for posting membership payments, entering and editing member information, and special projects as needed. Ms. Smith is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration/Accounting and plans to graduate in fall 2000. She resides in Gladstone, Missouri.
