The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has a Variable Speed Limit (VSL) corridor along I-80 through Parley's Canyon (between Salt Lake City and Park City). This system currently operates remotely by engineers that are on call 24/7. At the time of recording, UDOT was in the process of developing software and infrastructure that allows the VSL corridor to operate automatically, based on speeds and road weather conditions. This session features a panel discussion of UDOT engineers speaking and answering questions about their VSL system.
