How can we expect someone to do a good job if we don’t first provide a description of what a “good job” is? The City of Medford, Oregon implemented a performance management cycle that uses written performance standards as the starting point for a fair, definable system.

Learning Objectives:

1.     Establish written employee performance standards that provide clear and measurable expectations for performance.

2.     Use a performance cycle based on written performance standards to monitor and improve performance.

3.     Improve your performance appraisal process and outcomes by providing clear expectations for employees.
